Weaving the Flows – ROW80 Update, 1/13/13

Curious? Click here!

The first week of ROW8o 2013 is over. Round One is well underway…and I am happy to report that I have spent some time on nearly all my goals.

I am nearing completion on one smallish goal, and I feel that I am moving along well, while still having ample time for the rest of life…

Which has included, among other things:

  • A lovely visit from Eden Mabee, where we mostly talked about stuff other than writing…we’ve been friends the vast majority of our lives, which means there is always a lifetime of stuff to talk about!

  • A leaky roof – Jim was able to replace the roofing material that was blown down, but did not get it sealed, and the front porch and our bedroom developed some irksome leaks. I am happy to report that he was able to seal the roof over our room before today’s rain, and there don’t seem to be any leaks in here, now!

  • Happy cat time – our older kittens, Srindi and Squeak, are, more and more, getting comfortable with the house and with us. Corki the pit-bull mix, who wants to play and has a big bark, still is more than they can handle, but, overall, they are happily exploring at their own comfort levels, and both can now be petted on their own terms.

  • The discovery of many buried treasures in Annalise’s room, and the wonderful flow of conversation as I gifted her with my excavation efforts.

  • Snuggles, cuddles, and deep sharing with all three of my favorite people.

  • Personal bravery on several levels.

Lise’s TV area….

With this update, I am making some changes. My posts were becoming very unwieldy and difficult to read. When I added commentary to them, they became monstrous – which used up a lot of my writing time.

Therefore, I have cut out a lot of the fluff, so that they are lean, and hopefully more comprehensible.

Hopefully, this will make my posts cleaner and simpler to follow, whether basic goal-only posts or more introspective offerings.

Clean Annalise’s and Jeremiah’s bedrooms, creating spaces of welcome and haven for them, with room for their favorite things and activities.

  • Progress on Annalise’s room:

  • Cleared main body of floor; swept; set up two bookshelves as temporary homes for as-yet unsorted books.

  • Sorted bags and clutter; anything she might like to keep bagged or binned.

  • Trash, laundry, and dish eradication.

  • Zoning like items.

  • Currently three days ahead of schedule.

  • Revised goal – have entire floor (under and area at end of loft, closet) cleaned by fifteenth, leaving sixteen days for flat surfaces, shelves, drawers, and rehoming bin and bag contents.

Bookcases, prehistoric animals awaiting new homes, and, what’s that?! A FLOOR!!!!!

At least weekly, work on an area where clutter tends to take over, such as the games cupboard, round table, my office, computer desk, coat cabinet, bathroom dresser, and my personal spaces.

  • Did some mental clearing through writing; cleared hallway clutter; general tidying.

  • Goal completed for this week.

One week from today, I will make my first formal assessment of my goals and how well they are serving me. I have a few ideas, already, and will likely have more, a week from now.

Until then, I am finding a great deal of joy and peace in weaving these various threads, and exploring new aspects of self-trust…

Are you rolling with your own flow, being swept away, or caught on a sandbar?

Snake charmer! =D

It’s a BLOG HOP!

Wow. Those are some goals Shan! And yet, you’re getting them done–I bow down to you.

    • shanjeniah says:

Oh, please don’t bow! The secret is that I live a life perfectly suited to indulging my passions, and I have a mind that Floyd hither and yon, merrily skipping between possibilities and making connections between seemingly random things…

Really, this list just represents me learning to embrace my life and myself as-is, which seems to help me get a lot more done, and more joyfully, than ever before.

Here’s hoping for a fruitful round for us all!

  2. Eden says:

Glad the roof is fixed among so many other things you were working on. Reminds me though, I do need to ask Dan what he needs done with that flashing that blew off our roof two weeks ago,

    • shanjeniah says:

It was an – interesting – experience, to say the least, but one that reminded me, once again, of what a good team we are.

I hope a piece of flashing is the only damage you guys sustain through this fierce season!

On the plus side, I got a great, if dirty, workout!
