Hello there, and welcome to my midweek ROW80/12 Week Year Update!
I’m getting to this later in the day than I hoped, between doing DIY-MFA 101 coursework, tending a post-surgical puppy, and watching the history of the entire world i guess with my son.
To make up a little for being late, here’s my daughter’s adorable pup, Smokey:
Now, the fun part: Caption this picture in the comments! I’ll let my daughter choose her favorite, and announce the winner in my next update.
Prize? No, there’s no prize. Come on – you just got a picture of an adorable pup with a dagger hilt in her mouth. What more do you want? =)
Anyway, on to the main attraction…my progress toward my goals. Blue items are completed; green in progress; red haven’t been started.
You can find my original goals post here.

Selftending:
Goal:
I prioritize my goals, pursuing one per category, and evaluate daily through notes; twice-weekly through #ROW80 updates on Wednesdays and Sundays; weekly through checking in with Accountability Girls; through in-depth analysis in Weeks 4, 7, and 10, and a final evaluation of the year in Week 13. I adjust goals/tactics/lead and lag indicators at these quarterly checks, as needed.
Evaluation will consist of lead/lag measures; a stress-level rubric; and percentage of Action Steps attained for the time period.
This week’s progress:
I refine goals as needed.
* Working through detailed visions; long range and end of Year 5 completed; 2/3.
I continue accountability updates, and post two ROW80 updates.
* Accountability updates by block, daily.
* This is ROW80 update 2/2.
I create an Action Plan, lead/lag indicators; and a stress rubric.
* Rough Action Plan through Week 3/12.

Hometending:
Goal:
I prepare our home and yard for the winter season; work with the kids to develop a sane and functional approach to hometending which we can adapt and improve as needed, and complete all daily lessons in A Year to Clear What is Holding You Back.
Evaluation by lead/lag measures; personal and family stress-level rubric; rubric to assess functionality of each common room (living room, kitchen, dining room, porch, and bathroom) and my bedroom; checking in with kids to assess the functionality of their spaces; and percentage of Action Steps attained for the time period.
This week’s progress:
I schedule an estimate with electrician.
* Messaged late Monday morning.
I continue tending, beautification, and winter preparation.
Hometending: dishes; laundry; my room, dining room, weeding, and recycling.
I create an Action Plan and lead/lag indicators.

Lifetending:
Goal:
I create a workable, sustainable, adaptable system/schedule to facilitate attending to homeschooling, finances, pets, and travel/events. I experiment with a bullet journal, Wunderlist, calendar, and budget, and evaluate the functionality at the times I do my Selftending goal, above. I will share these systems with the kids as they’re interested, as well as offering chances to accept delegation and conversation around these topics at least weekly.
Evaluation by lead/lag measures; personal and family stress-level rubric; a rubric to assess functionality of each system attempted; checking in with kids to assess the functionality of delegation and any systems they’ve employed; and percentage of Action Steps attained for the time period.
This week’s progress:
I create an Action Plan for this goal.
I create lead/lag indicators.
I update my calendar for October/November events.
* Added Smokey spay; book fair; and visit to the Woodmans’. Verified next dog-sitting date.

New Writing:
Goal:
I create, revise, and submit three poems, three flash fiction stories, and one short story to 518 Publishing Company’s upcoming anthology, Influences of the Moon, and complete NaNoWriMo as a rebel with 50,000 words of Star Trek: Enterprise fan fiction (probably not all the same story, but rough-revised and posted daily to ff.net).
Evaluation by lead/lag measures; word counts, completed pieces, and number of items posted/submitted; and percentage of Action Steps attained for the time period.
This week’s progress:
I create an Action Plan and lead/lag indicators.
I type up my brainstorming notes for the Pub 518 stories.
* 20 minute brainstorming session #1 completed.
I locate end points of all potential NaNo stories.

Professional Development:
Goal:
I launch, continue to develop, and promote my website using Pixels to Platform; create and post newsletter freebie and twice-monthly newsletter based on the freebie; make public promotional appearances for Pub 518 as they are available; apply at Uncommon Grounds coffee shop; cultivate freelancing and dog-care opportunities, and create a rough draft of my poetry chapbook, Epic Hours.
Evaluation by lead/lag measures; completed projects; percentage of promotional opportunities accepted and executed; and percentage of Action Steps attained for the time period.
This week’s progress:
I create an Action Plan and lead/lag indicators.
I add three posts to the website, and add the four anthologies where my stories appear to the Writing page.
* I added ROW80 update 1/3 and anthologies.
I complete the freebie (Welcome Gift), send it out to those already subscribed, and draft premiere newsletter.
* I completed the freebie.

New Learning:
Goal:
I complete the 12 Week Year process with this set of goals, and stay current with the DIY-MFA 101 course, using the book as a supplement.
Evaluation by lead/lag measures; completed processes; and percentage of Action Plan attained for the time period.
I create an Action Plan.
* I began the plan; up to Week 3/12.
I create lead/lag indicators.
I complete the DIY-MFA 101 Week One module.
* I downloaded and filed materials for Videos 1 and 2; working through two play sheets for Video One and skimmed one for Video 2. Made detailed schedule checklist; completed 2/5 blocks. Interacted with Facebook group daily.

Looks like it’s going well for you so far. 🙂
